Mary Lou Retton is out of the hospital!

On Monday, the former Olympic champion’s daughters took to social media to share an update following her time in the ICU battling a rare form of pneumonia.

“Mom is HOME & in recovery mode,” Retton’s daughter, McKenna Kelley, wrote on Instagram. “We still have a long road of recovery ahead of us, but baby steps. We are overwhelmed with the love and support from everyone. Grateful doesn’t scrape the surface of the posture of our hearts. Thank you Jesus, thank you doctors & nurses, thank you to this loving community of support.”

The update comes just days after Retton’s oldest daughter, Shayla Schrepfer, shared that her mother suffered a “pretty scary setback,” while in the hospital.

“We were so excited, seeing so much progress, and then yesterday we had a pretty scary setback,” Schrepfer revealed on Thursday. “She is still in ICU, and we’re just working through some things as far as her setback goes.” She went on to share that her mother had a better day that day, but also noted that Retton was “really, really exhausted.”

Prior, Kelley and Schrepfer each revealed an “uplifting update,” noting that their mother was making “remarkable progress.”

On Oct. 10, both Schrepfer and Kelley revealed that the 55-year-old gymnastics champion was hospitalized and “fighting for her life” as she battled a rare form of pneumonia.

At the time, Retton’s daughters had set up a Spot Fund to support her medical expenses as she is uninsured. The original goal for the crowdfunding effort was set at $50,000. The crowdfunding effort has exceeded that number, reaching over $360,000.

Last week, Retton’s Dancing With the Stars partner, Sasha Farber, gave an update on the athlete.

“I’ve been talking to her today and she’s fighting,” shared Farber, who was joined by his current celeb partner, Alyson Hannigan. “She kind of wants to give up, but I’m sending her videos of her dancing and I’m telling her, ‘There’s only one Mary Lou Retton. You’ve got this!'”
