The 2024 GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 goes on sale this summer with a $99,495 price and a range of 440 miles, GMC announced Tuesday.

The electric pickup truck tops the Sierra range, and costs $3,000 more than the range-topping 2024 Chevy Silverado EV RST First Edition expected to land this summer. Both electric pickup trucks cost about $9,000 less than when they were first detailed late in 2022. A Silverado EV Work Truck has been on sale for fleet buyers since last year for about $80,000, but the entry point price of the GMC Sierra EV has not been revealed. More affordable models are coming, we’re told.

Another change from what was initially revealed is a boost in range from 400 miles to 440 miles, believed to be from a larger battery pack that’s estimated to be 200 or 205 kwh. GM won’t confirm the size in the Silverado EV RST or the GMC Hummer EV. Sharing a propulsion system with those vehicles, the Sierra EV’s dual-motor system generates 754 hp and 785 lb-ft of torque in its maximum-output mode.

GMC didn’t detail a 0-60 mph time, but the Silverado EV RST hits it in under 4.5 seconds, so expect something similar with the Sierra EV. A more important truck spec might be its increased towing capacity to 10,000 pounds and higher payload capacity to 1,450 pounds than what was promised at launch.

Like the Silverado EV, the Denali Edition 1 has rear-axle steering, adaptive dampers, an air suspension, a 6-way power tailgate, and a mid-gate that can fold flat the second row of seats and open up the cabin to expand the bed length. The air suspension can raise the or lower the truck by about two inches, and the rear-axle steering enables the brand’s trick CrabWalk feature that lets the truck move diagonally, as well as shrinking the turning circle when the axles are turned counter phase.

Features include a 16.8-inch touchscreen and an 11.0-inch gauge cluster. While the Silverado EV RST gets GM’s Super Cruise hands-free highway driving system, it’s optional even on the top Sierra EV Denali Edition 1. The brand expects it to be able to traverse 750,000 miles in North America by the end of 2025. Other features were not detailed in GMC’s Tuesday announcement.

The 800-volt electrical system enables DC fast-charging at up to 350 kw, or enough for 100 miles of range to be added in around 10 minutes.

More details are expected near the 2024 Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 summer sale date.
